The inspiration behind the conception of this artwork is rooted in a quote by Ernst Fischer:

"In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the World as changeable. And help to change it."

MATTHEW MUIR

is an artist that has an interest in creating conceptual, surreal artworks with the aim of inviting the viewer to rethink and question many aspects of our society.  Born in 1987 and raised in Tucson, AZ where he began his artistic career showing at various galleries around town.  Muir broke onto the National market at the end of 2016 with a showing during Miami’s world renown “Art Basel” at the Art & Sol Studio’s Gallery in the Wynwood Art District.  His passion for creating art that owns a deeper meaning to inspire social change began in his early 20’s after a friend exposed him to a film by Peter Joseph called “Zeitgeist”.   Muir recalled that being a pivotal moment because it awaken a sense of curiosity that lead to the research on many subjects that would later show up in his work.  He was consciously aware he could no longer create again without commentating on the world around him and became quickly submerged in the connection between political and spiritual statements in art.
